All interested students are invited to apply at the UPD building on Safety Way East (building 74). Since the CSO Program is comprised and supervised by students, it is the student supervisors who recruit, interview, hire and train new employees.

Employment is not limited to any majors. Application is open to all Cal Poly students who desire to develop their personal, public, and professional skills. The University Police Department does not discriminate on the basis of age, gender, disability, race, or national origin.

Patrol on foot, bike and vehicle
  Escort Van Service
  Campus bike enforcement and registration
  Special event security
  Library security
  Parking Enforcement
  Traffic Control
  Event Parking
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
 
Must be a full or part time student at Cal Poly; GPA above 2.0
  Must possess a valid California driver’s license
  Demonstrate the ability to communicate orally and in writing
  Complete the CSO job application process:
  • - Application
  • - Panel interview for selection
  • - Chief of Police (or designee) interview
  • - Completion of a paid CSO Academy

Each applicant is subject to a complete background history by the University Police. Applicants may be declined based on criminal history, driving record, and/or past employment history.
