**Important Information**
- For best service, it is highly recommended that packages and sensitive mail be sent via a shipper using a tracking number and requiring a signature (i.e., UPS, FedEx, or USPS Express Mail).
- Please arrange to have packages shipped no earlier than one week prior to your arrival.
- It is recommended that any valuable items, such as computers and cameras, be insured for the value of the item. Neither Cal Poly Distribution Service nor the Housing Department will be responsible for the delivery of any packages that have a value over $50.
Location
The Residence Hall Package Center is temporarily located at Distribution Services in Bldg. 70.
Security
All parcels received by the Residence Hall Package Center are locked
in a secured area designed just for student packages. Shippers have
been notified that under no circumstances should packages be dropped
off at the Package Center when the Packaging Center is not open.
Alternatives for the receipt of packages during this time have been
provided to shippers.
All packages received will use the unique bar code tracking number
assigned to the package by the shipper to assure that the student
receives the correct package. Each student is required to show his
or her Cal Poly ID or some type of photo ID that matches the name
on the package. A signature of the package recipient is also required
after proper identification has been provided.
USPS MAIL: Mail sent through the United States Postal Service will be delivered first to Distribution Services and then forwarded to the front desk of the student's residence hall. The residence hall staff will then put the mail in the student's mail box (which are small, letter-sized boxes) or issue a written package slip if the item is too large. The only exception is Express Mail which will be sent directly to the Residence Hall Package Center where the student may pick it up with a valid ID.
PACKAGE DELIVERY: All packages, envelopes, and boxes that have been sent to the University via a shipper using a tracking number (i.e., UPS, FedEx, DHL, or USPS Express Mail) and requiring a signature will be delivered directly to the Residence Hall Package Center. Distribution Services will send an e-mail to the student's Cal Poly e-mail address notifying him/her that a package is being held at the Residence Hall Package Center. To pick up packages, residents must present a photo ID and a copy of the e-mail notification to the staff at the Residence Hall Package Center. To receive e-mail notification, students must have activated their Cal Poly e-mail account.
