Federal Stafford loans (subsidized &
unsubsidized):
As of fall term 2009, Cal Poly began exclusively offering its students Stafford/Grad PLUS student loans through the Department of Education. As a result, many of Cal Poly's student loan borrowers now have Stafford and/or Grad PLUS loans lent to them through a bank (loans disbursed before fall 2009) and the Department of Education (loans disbursed fall 2009 term and after).

Teacher Cancellation: Assumption Program of Loans for Education (APLE)
The APLE is a competitive teacher incentive program designed to encourage outstanding students, district interns, and out-of-state teachers to become California teachers in subject areas where a critical teacher shortage has been identified or in designated schools meeting specific criteria established by the Superintendent of Public Instruction. This program seeks to attract outstanding students into the teaching profession
